We work out of Waimea and cover the North and West side of the island, from the Kohala coast up through Hāwī and Kapaʻau, across to Honokaʻa, down the Kona side, and over to Hilo. Different weather on every one of those stops, and the same underlying problem on every roof.

Wet Side or Dry Side, a Waimea Roof Ages From the Inside Out.

Honokaʻa side · wet

Serious rainfall, moisture that hangs on the roof between showers, and biological growth that finds every patch where granules have already let go. A dry shingle on the wet side soaks up trouble.

Puakō & Waikoloa · dry

Near-desert sun, salt carried in off the water and trade winds that never really stop. The oils bake out, the shingles go brittle and the wind takes the granules. Opposite weather, same result.
